The GMT Master was first manufactured in 1954.  Early versions did not have the crown guards.  This feature came later in the 1960's and was used on the 1675 models.  Early versions did not have the Cyclops lens over the date, however most of the GMT models did come with it from the factory.  Movements that are typically used in the GMT models are the 3075 and 3085.  The GMT Master II uses the 3085 movement.

These pictures show a GMT Master II which uses the 3185 movement.  The 3185 is based on the 3135 movement.  It has a 31 jewel movement with a rate of 28,800 beats per hour.

GMT Master with 3075 Movement, Registered Design 16753.

This is an older model GMT Master.  This Rolex uses the 3075 movement which has 27 jewels.  This watch movement features a hack mechanism.  The auto wind mechanism is similar to that of the 3185 movement.  The 3075 movement was first produced in 1981.  It also has a beat rate of 28,800 beats per hour.

The first two pictures above show the Rolex 3075 movement without the oscillating weight.  The balance bridge on the 3075 movement is different than the one shown in the 3185 movement which has the bridge type.  The dial above shows the typical GMT Master markings.  Notice the Swiss T markings at the six position on the dial.  For more information on the Swiss T markings visit our message board using the following link.  T Swiss Made T or Swiss T 25. Does it mean RADIOACTIVE?
